There is a delicate art to marrying heritage character with contemporary living, and Villamanta is a masterclass in getting that balance just right. Designed to breathe new life into an original Victorian home, the focus was all about light, intuitive flow, and creating a quiet inner-city sanctuary.
We preserved the warmth and soul of the original footprint while introducing a bright, modern extension grounded by crisp timber and bold black steel accents. Every space was crafted to feel effortlessly functional, leading seamlessly out to the landscaped gardens and pool. The result is a refined, light-filled retreat that feels equal parts classic and contemporary.
Located in the heart of Geelong West, the home was tailored around the owner’s vibrant passion for art, music, and entertaining. The spatial layout was clever and deliberate, introducing oversized skylights to flood the original Victorian rooms with natural light, while carving out dedicated spaces including a private cinema, a home gym, and a subterranean sanctuary. Upstairs, the master suite captures sweeping views out toward the distant You Yangs, offering a quiet vantage point above the neighbourhood.
At the centre of the home, the kitchen makes a confident visual statement. Clad with an impactful timber ceiling, the space blends natural green, red, and rich brown tones through a tactile combination of marble, timber, tile, and exposed brickwork. Warm timber walls run throughout the living spaces, creating an interior that feels modern, grounded, and deeply personal. Outside, an award-winning landscape and pool design completes the property, seamlessly connecting the indoor living areas to a private, resort-style garden.
“My architecture studio has engaged Walker Constructions for several of our high-end residential builds in the past few years. We are continually impressed with their professionalism and thoroughness. Caleb and Matt‘s experience and eye for detail make them the stand-out builder for us. They are extremely approachable and honest also which is critical. It is not very often that builders surpass our expectations every single time- but Walker certainly do.”
