Designed to support the acclaimed music program at Christian College Geelong, this comprehensive build encompassed a complete, dedicated music department facility. At its heart sits a 160-seat acoustically tuneable rehearsal auditorium, surrounded by purpose-built lesson rooms, individual teaching studios, ensemble spaces, a central recording booth, staff offices and a break room.
Precision was paramount across every facet of the construction, requiring complex acoustic isolation and soundproofing details so that multiple rehearsals and lessons could run simultaneously without interruption. Warm timber panelling and soft, natural tones were used throughout the interiors and central courtyard to balance the technical nature of the facility, creating an uplifting and inspiring environment for students to create, perform, and celebrate music.
Executing a specialised facility of this scale required rigorous project management and technical oversight from start to finish. Specialist acoustic wall treatments, floating floor systems, and heavily insulated structural partitions were installed to manage sound transmission between adjacent rehearsal spaces.
Integrated audiovisual systems and custom-engineered lighting setups were installed seamlessly into the timber ceiling grids to maintain a clean aesthetic throughout. The resulting facility stands as an exemplary educational hub, providing students with a professional-grade acoustic environment designed to nurture musical talent for decades to come.
I have been fortunate to work with Caleb on numerous projects over the years, all of which have been an outstanding success for the stakeholders involved. Caleb’s ability to understand the desired vision, input flawless workmanship and construction detail is exceedingly rare in today’s building industry. Caleb and Matt‘s experience and eye for detail make them the stand-out builder for us. They are extremely approachable and honest also which is critical. It is not very often that builders surpass our expectations every single time- but Walker certainly do.”
