Looking out toward the Barwon River, this 1970s brown-brick home in Belmont was reimagined to celebrate its retro roots while lifting it into the present day. Rather than stripping away its heritage, we worked to preserve its distinctive character while introducing a softer, more contemporary feel throughout the entire floor plan.
The kitchen and bathrooms were modernised, using clean lines, subtle textures, and natural materials that pay homage to the home’s era without compromising on functionality. The result is a warm, deeply inviting family environment that honours its architectural history while offering complete comfort for everyday living.
By retaining key structural elements of the original build, the project retains a sense of nostalgia that new builds often struggle to replicate. Custom timber cabinetry and understated tiled surfaces bring a refined finish, working in tandem with soft natural lighting.
Subtle spatial reconfigurations allowed us to improve traffic flow between the kitchen, dining, and outdoor areas without expanding the physical footprint. The home now stands as a prime example of how sympathetic design and quality craftsmanship can transform a classic Australian suburban home into a sophisticated modern sanctuary.
